Broken for everyone, or only for you?
The status code decides it. Our server sits outside your network, so it sees what everyone else sees.
Broken for everyone
- 404 Not Found or 410 Gone: the page does not exist
- 500 to 504: the website's server is failing
- The domain does not exist in DNS
- A redirect loop: the address points back to itself
Works here, fails for you
- Your network, Wi-Fi or company firewall blocks the site
- A VPN, ad blocker or browser extension interferes
- An old copy is stuck in your browser cache
- The page needs a login, or is blocked in your country

FAQ
Status code and redirect questions
Is this HTTP status checker free?
Yes. No signup and no email. Paste a link and you get the status code and every redirect hop in a few seconds.
What counts as a broken link?
A link is broken when it does not lead to a working page: the server answers with a 4xx error such as 404 Not Found or 410 Gone, a 5xx server error, no answer at all, or a redirect loop that never ends. A link that redirects to the home page instead of the page it promised is a soft 404, which is broken in practice too.
How do I know if a link is broken for everyone or just for me?
Paste it above. Our server requests the link from outside your network. If we get a 404, a 5xx error or no answer, it is broken for everyone. If we get 200 OK while it fails for you, the problem is on your side: your network, a VPN, an ad blocker or your browser cache.
What is the difference between a 301 and a 302 redirect?
A 301 says the page has moved for good, so search engines move the old address's ranking to the new one. A 302 says the move is temporary, so search engines keep the old address. Use 301 (or 308) for permanent moves.
What is a redirect chain and why does it matter?
A chain is two or more redirects in a row, for example http to https and then an old path to a new one. Each hop adds waiting time, and search engines may stop following long chains. Link straight to the final address to skip them.
Why does a link work in my browser but show 403 here?
Many sites use bot protection that turns away automated checks while letting people in. We report this as could not verify rather than broken. Open the link in your browser to confirm.
What does it mean when a link redirects to the home page?
The page it pointed to is gone and the site sends everyone to the home page instead. Visitors do not find what the link promised, and Google often treats it as a soft 404. Find the page's new address or remove the link.
Can I check every link on my website?
The free broken link and 404 checker tests every link on one page at once. Siteiz Pro checks every link across your site each week and emails you when one breaks.
One link is one check.
Your pages have dozens of links, and they break quietly after you publish. Check a whole page for free, or let Pro re-check your site every week and email you when a link breaks.
